Joshua 5:10-12 New International Version (NIV)
10 On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover. 11 The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land: unleavened bread and roasted grain. 12 The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate the produce of Canaan.
THE moment the Israelites ate of the produce of the land, manna ceased to fall from heaven. Why?
- The LORD wants to raise mature children who can fend for themselves, stand on their own, and excel in their endeavours. So, men can see the LORD’s Good Works in our lives and glorify HIM.
- The LORD has given us the power to trample over all serpents, scorpions and all the power of the devil.
- They could enjoy a better variety of meals through cultivation, but they had to work for it. In order for them to be independent, GOD made them have no choice but to fend for themselves.
