Good day People of GOD 🙂
Today we will be looking at the story of David’s rise from the desert to the palace – more specifically how GOD used the voice of a mere servant to bring David out of the desert and come to serve king Saul in the palace. GOD raised a voice for David where he had none. If this servant had not spoken up about David’s musical skills, David would probably have died as an unknown shepherd.
15 Saul’s attendants said to him, “See, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you. 16 Let our lord command his servants here to search for someone who can play the lyre. He will play when the evil spirit from God comes on you, and you will feel better.”
17 So Saul said to his attendants, “Find someone who plays well and bring him to me.”
18 One of the servants answered, “I have seen a son of Jesse of Bethlehem who knows how to play the lyre. He is a brave man and a warrior. He speaks well and is a fine-looking man. And the Lord is with him.”
19 Then Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, “Send me your son David, who is with the sheep.” (NIV)
GOD had already rejected Saul, and ordained David to take over the Kingdom from Saul (1 Samuel 16: 1; 12-13). However, how was GOD going to get David to the Palace? David was pretty much relegated to the desert. Even when Samuel came by to seek a king among Jesse’s sons, David was forgotten (1 Samuel 16: 5-12)! He was the seventh among seven sons, so he was pretty much the sixth ‘spare heir’, after Jesse’s first born son. Thus, GOD had to devise a plan to bring David to the palace where GOD had already ordained him to be. This is why GOD raised the voice of a mere servant, who remembered David’s beautiful musical skills, recommended him to the king, so that the king requested David’s presence in the palace.
GOD is the One who can raise a voice for you where you have none. One of the greatest prayers you can ever pray is, ‘LORD, raise a voice for me where I have none’. In some situations, your talent, your dreams, you ambition or desires are not enough. You need Divine Favor and a voice to sing your praises in order to get to where GOD has ordained you to be. David was a very talented singer, he had what it took to lead the nation of Israel in him, yet he was in the desert – a forgotten shepherd! Even his own family did not think much of him or believe in his activities. However, GOD did not forget him!
How did David break out of the desert and find his way to the Palace?
- David fought to possess his possession. He was a prayer warrior.
- He did what he did WELL.
- The Presence of GOD was with him.
Another lesson: DO THE LITTLE THINGS WELL. Be very careful of what you do, where you do it and how you do it. There may be an observing eye, who will report you one day favorably or against you. Do the little things VERY WELL, that your work will advertise you before kings and queens. Do the little things well so that they will skip the qualified and the eloquent, in order to reach you. When you do little things well, you stand the chance to do greater things and better things. The only place where success starts from the top is the cemetery. – Dr. D. K. Olukoya.
Where you are now is all you need to get to where you are met to be. Do what you do currently well, and in your season – at the appointed time – GOD will raise a Divine Helper who will advertise you and uncover your glory.
The three major laws of success, according to Dr. D.K. Olukoya:
- The road to greatness in any field is to make yourself a master in the field.
- If you can do something good better than everyone else, people will always look for you.
- Everyone created by GOD is a solution to an existing problem.
If not for GOD and HIS Divine Favor, I would not be anywhere close to where I am today. I am complete in CHRIST, by HIS Awesome Grace alone.
Finally, GOD is all you need to fulfill your destiny, achieve your dreams and get to where HE has ordained you to be. I pray that GOD indeed will raise a voice for you where you have none in JESUS’ Name.
May the LORD bless the study of HIS Awesome Word in JESUS’ Name!
