Welcome/Bienvenue/Shalom/Ekabo

Good day People of GOD.

Today, we will be looking at the part of Genesis 13: 14-15, where GOD told Abram to look around, and whatever he sees shall be given to his descendants and him forever.

‘And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. Genesis 13: 14-15’

There is that saying, ‘What you see is what you get’. However, it is not only what you see with your physical eyes that you get. You also get what you see with your spiritual eyes.

When GOD told Abram to look, and whatever he saw will be given to his children forever, GOD surely did not mean his physical eyes!  You are in the land of nowhere, and GOD tells you to look around- how far can you see with your physical eyes? Of course, GOD wanted Abram to use his imagination, the eyes of his heart, to see what would be the portion of his descendants.

Moreover, GOD required Abram to trust HIM. Lot had just separated from Abram, and had taken what seemed to be the best land in that area. Then, Awesome GOD told Abram to see, and whatever he saw was what he was going to get.

Man has a very powerful imagination. This is one of the benefits of being made in the Image of GOD. If you can imagine it, you can do it. Amazingly enough, GOD acknowledged this in the Bible. Do you remember that passage in the Bible where men wanted to build the Tower of Babel that would reach into Heaven, so that they could start contending with GOD (Genesis 11: 1-9)? Yes, GOD had to act proactively to stop them by confusing them with different languages so that they would not communicate easily. Why? GOD said, ‘Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do (Genesis 11: 6).’ Even GOD acknowledges that men can do anything if they just imagine it. There are principles of GOD that apply universally whether you are born again or not, because GOD is a God of fairness. This is one of such rules. This is why people who are not born-again succeed in business, career, marriage etc. Another of such rules is the Golden Rule- do unto others as you want them to do unto you.

Clearly, Abram imagined great things for his descendants, and this is why he is still celebrated today. Truly, Abraham’s descendants own the world if you count all the Jews and Christians on earth. This is the result of the imagination of one great man.

Sometimes, things may not be lekker or go as planned. You may not have been born into a rich family for instance, or you could not have certain opportunities in life. But, do not let that stop you. The reason why you are saved is so that you can be unstoppable in CHRIST. If you can believe and trust GOD, and imagine yourself fulfilling your great destiny, you will indeed fulfil your destiny, even if it does not seem like it now. Just IMAGINE, and just DO IT. And when GOD sees your heart is pure, and you want to succeed so that you can serve HIM better, HE will give you the Grace. Do your best they say, and leave the rest to GOD.

Another crucial point is what you say. THIS IS SO IMPORTANT IT HURTS. Your tongue is very powerful and has the power of life and death (Proverbs 18: 21). Please, WATCH what you say. If you decree positive things, if you decree life where there is death; decree prosperity where there is poverty; decree beauty where there is ugliness; decree love where there is hate, you will see all these positive things. There was dire famine in Israel. Very dire famine that women were eating their own children (1 Kings 6: 27-29)! Prophet Elisha decreed there would be food this tomorrow- plenty of flour that it would sell at rock-bottom prices! But a man with the king doubted this could happen. He said even if GOD opens the floodgates of Heaven, that cannot happen. What happened to him? He died in a stampede before he could get any food (1 Kings 7: 1-3; 19-20)! Now, let me play devil’s advocate a bit here. Maybe when that man made that statement, he did not really mean it or it was just a senseless remark he made. Or he was joking or he just said it. Weel, he paid dearly for it!

According to research performed by Harvard TH Chan School of public Health, people who are happier and speak more positively live longer. There’s another reason to speak positively! Don’t say negative things concerning your life in the hope it won’t come to pass or you are just joking. It would surely happen as you said it.

I am where I am today by the Grace of GOD, and because I saw it! Even when it seemed impossible, it seemed unlikely I could have achieved what I have achieved today, I still dreamed BIG, and here I am today. I would go into specifics about GOD’s Faithfulness concerning my life in another post. Stay tuned for more! Bye for now ☺☺

May the LORD bless the study of HIS Word in JESUS’ Name!

Genesis 13: 14-15 …AFTER THAT LOT WAS SEPARATED FROM ABRAHAM…

Welcome/Bienvenue/ Shalom/Ekabo

Good day People of GOD.

Today we shall be looking at Genesis 13: 14-15.

‘..after Lot was separated from him…’. It should not be taken lightly that Lot left Abraham first before GOD pronounced generational blessings on him. Yet, Lot was his nephew.

There are some people who add nothing to your life. They are like the little foxes that spoil the vine. Your association with them makes you stagnant or move backward, not forward. They are not the kind of people you can grow or move forward with. They pull you down, rather than raise you up. Have you ever wondered why when you discuss a good idea with one of your friends, he/she is always discouraging you, making light of your gifts or making funs of your failures? Is there any of your ‘friends’ who attacks you in public for your weaknesses, rather than correct you in love if they think you’ve done something wrong? Then, it’s time to do some thinking and evaluate your relationship with that person.

Lot was not a man that was ‘Spirit-filled’ or ‘GOD-filled’. He clearly was not led by GOD. When it came to choosing, he jumped at the land that was green and fresh, without pausing to ask whether it was GOD’s Will for his life. That single decision destroyed his family and lineage forever. In the end, Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, his wife turned to a pillar of salt for disobeying GOD and his daughters committed incest with him and produced cursed children (he did not even bring them up to fear GOD). This man was in many respects different from Abraham in serving GOD and making decisions (where was it mentioned in the Bible that Lot offered a sacrifice to GOD? All he did was entertain Angels before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah). This was not the kind of man that Abraham should have been walking with in order to prosper.

Abraham was also a wise man. He knew GOD was taking him by the hand and leading him, so he did not argue with Lot. He realised it was time they separate, so that he can move forward (vs 3-8). It is recorded that Abraham called upon GOD, so GOD had a Hand in their separation.

Now, who in your life has to go so that you can prosper? It could be a family member like Lot, your friend from high school or someone whose opinion was once important to you but you have realised that his/her values have changed. And it could be a thing. An attitude. A character trait. Anything that has to leave for you to prosper or move forward. King Solomon prayed in Songs of Solomon 2: 15:

‘Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes. (KJV)’

‘Catch the foxes for us, The little foxes that are ruining the vineyards, While our vineyards are in blossom (NASB).’

Finally, there are those foxes that ruin prosperous destinies. Pray that GOD takes away those little foxes, before they destroy the vine of your destiny. IT’S THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MATTER. THE PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE THAT MATTER.

May the LORD bless the study of HIS Word in JESUS’ Name!
