Good day People of GOD
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1 Thessalonians 5: 18).
THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.
Today, I want to take the opportunity to reflect upon the past 12 months – more or less. It’s about a year since I started this blog. Moreover, I want to say thank you to everyone who has every liked, commented on a post or called me aside and gave constructive criticism. Finally, I want to answer some questions people have asked me – my Christian background, why I started the blog, why the name, etc.
My background: I grew up in a conservative Christian home. Both of my parents have been born again about 25 years now, in the ‘80s when Christians were still conservative. They are what Nigerians would call ‘Scripture Union (SU)’ people. I’m so proud of them. Anyway, I only properly became born again at age 13, after years of doubt and feeling lost.I also grew up in a conservative church – Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM).
At age 15, being a born-again teenager was great – but it made me realize a lot of things was wrong. Young people normally do not bother with such things, but i became worried about the Church of CHRIST on earth, and the trajectory it was taking. I know that we are in the Endtime, and it has being prophesied that people will depart from the faith in the Endtime (1 Timothy 4: 1). Yet, it was hard taking in all that was happening at the time – I felt many Christians did not appreciate the extent to which their Salvation was powerful and that JESUS has said that they are Gods after JEHOVAH’s Order (John 10: 34). For many people, Christianity was all about going to church and being ‘good’. Moreover, I felt that was too much compromise in the Church on fundamental principles of holiness and Christianity on one hand, and hypocrisy on the other. I was genuinely obsessed about it – praying and wishing that things would change. The only hope I have is that JESUS has built HIS Church on the rock and the gates of hell cannot prevail against it (Matthew 16: 18). Fast-forward to a couple of years later, I was studying the Bible one day when the HOLY SPIRIT instructed me to get a new book and reserve it for making notes when I do Bible study. And I named the book, ‘Daunting Facts of Christianity’. Fast-forward to one year later: I decided to start a WordPress blog and named it Daunting Facts of Christianity. My first post on this site was probably JOSHUA 5: 10-12 SPIRITUAL MATURITY, posted on May 26, 2015.
Why the name ‘Daunting Facts of Christianity’? Somebody told me the name ‘Daunting’ inspires fear. However, when I got this name, it was intended to inspire awe of GOD in people, and not fear. According to the Oxford Dictionary, ‘daunting’ can mean ‘intimidating’ and is a synonym for ‘awesome’. I realize that it does also mean challenging or fearsome. Although, I did not realize it at the time.
Since my first post on the blog, it has been an eventful journey. I took some time off last year because I felt like I needed to ‘reconnect’ with GOD. I came back again this year and struggled to be consistent because I was always busy. However, the main reason why I have stayed with this blog is that it helps my spiritual life, and I actually learn more from posting blog articles about Scriptures. It motivates me to search Scriptures more and be consistent with Bible study. When people ask me why I have this blog, this is the answer I give them – I have the blog because of me, for my spiritual life. However, I am glad that some people have admired and benefited from some of my articles in the past. This is essentially what keeps me determined to keep publishing on this blog. I may not have many followers or likes or comments, but, I’m proud that I am doing something that makes me happy.
Another question people have wondered about is why I write GOD’s name in capital letters. In most versions of the Bible, ‘LORD’ is written in capital letters, and I thought GOD is so Awesome, I should write HIS Name or refer to HIM in capital letters.
The best part: I am grateful to GOD who has helped me over many years and has kept me strong spiritually. It has been challenging because giving my life to CHRIST was more than just becoming born-again – it was choosing to live again, get out of the pit of mediocrity, choosing to believe in myself and the potential GOD placed me in, and taking hold of my great destiny in CHRIST. It’s been a great journey, too 🙂 Moreover, I am a conservative Christian and I’m proud of it, so there you have it.
Finally, all Glory belongs to GOD, and thank you to everyone who has liked or commented or called me about my posts – I really appreciate it. What is my greatest wish in life? To make GOD proud, serve HIM with all I have got and that there be peace in the world. I hope to become better spiritually and to post better blog articles and register this site sometime too. I would also appreciate more support in terms of comments (it drives me nuts just wanting to know what readers think J). If you have any more questions or suggestions, please comment below or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, and I would deeply appreciate it 🙂 ❤
If you have liked any of my posts before and your name does not appear here, I’m sorry (I don’t know everyone specifically, even though I could lol), but thank you and GOD bless you 🙂
May the LORD bless the study of HIS Awesome Word in JESUS’ Name!
Please, leave a comment below. I want to hear from anybody who reads this post. I want to hear your views and criticism (I am still learning).
