Good day People of GOD.

Today we will be looking at 1 Samuel 15: 22 in more detail, where Samuel insists that GOD cares more about obedience, than sacrifices and Kingdom service.

‘But Samuel replied: “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams (NIV).’

Your most important duty to GOD is to obey HIM. The most important way to prove your love to GOD is to obey HIM. JESUS said that if you love HIM, you would obey HIS Commands (John 14: 15). What is the context in which Samuel made this statement to Saul?

GOD instructed Saul to destroy the Amalekites and all that belonged to them, including all men, women, children, infants, cattle, sheep, camels and donkeys (1 Samuel 15: 1-3). Saul was not allowed to spare anybody or animal. The Amalekites had waylaid the Israelites. GOD wanted to punish the Amalekites, as a result.

However, Saul did not obey GOD’s Instructions. He spared Agag (the king), the best of the sheep, cattle, fat calves, and lambs. He only destroyed everything that was weak and despised (verses 7-9). GOD was nonetheless unhappy with Saul’s actions. In fact, HE ws grieved because Saul had clearly taken HIM for granted. Therefore, GOD took the kingdom away from Saul, by rejecting him as king (verse 23).

When Samuel asked Saul why he disobeyed, he defended himself saying, ‘they spared the best of the sheep and cattle to sacrifice to the Lord your God, but we totally destroyed the rest’. Nevertheless, it was too late. In fact, he thought he had done something good, and obeyed the LORD. He said, ‘The Lord bless you! I have carried out the Lord’s instructions’. It is hard to tell if he was pretending or trying to save himself after realising he had done wrong.

images 3.jpg

Saul may have thought that what he did was noble or right. He saved ‘good’ animals to be sacrificed to GOD later. He may also have done it for ulterior or selfish motives, though. But, it was contrary to GOD’s Instructions and that is where he missed it. This account proves that obedience matters more to GOD than Kingdom service. It is easier to please GOD by obeying HIM, than through Kingdom service.

Hundreds of years after this event, JESUS obeyed HIS parents by following them home, rather than remaining to discuss the Law with the elders and teachers. Every year, JESUS’ parents journeyed to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival. When HE was 12 years, they went again as usual. However, when HIS parents were going home, HE stayed in Jerusalem, but they were not aware. They had journeyed for one day without Him, when they realized HE was absent. They went back to Jerusalem to find HIM. They found HIM in the temple courts, sitting among teachers, listening to them and asking questions. HE clearly was having a good time there. When they found HIM, and HIS mother said Joseph and herself had been upset searching for Him, and HE said, ‘Why were you searching for me?” he asked. “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house? (verse 49)’. Yet, HE went back with them and was obedient to them (Luke 2: 41-52).

In addition, the price of disobedience is indeed too high to pay. This cannot be overemphasised. There was this prophet from Judah who disobeyed GOD in the Bible. GOD had instructed him not to eat or drink anything, or return by the same way he came, after performing a miracle in Bethel (1 Kings 13: 1-10). Another old prophet who was informed of what the young prophet had said to the king, followed the young prophet, lied to him that GOD said he could eat and drink with him (the old prophet) at his house. As soon as he did eat, this old prophet prophesied that as the young prophet had eaten and disobeyed GOD, he would be eaten by a lion, and would not be buried. Indeed, this is what happened (verses 11-25). GOD is not wicked. The young prophet did not listen to the HOLY SPIRIT, before going to eat and drink. This is why it is SO important to have the Spirit of Discernment! Therefore, obedience can be likened to the Gold you pay to appease GOD.

You are required to obey GOD’s Word which you receive from the Bible or from a prophet (as in Saul’s case). However, GOD may speak to you through a source outside HIS Word, through somebody who is not a pastor or prophet, or through your heart, and you must obey HIM still. You would know when GOD speaks to you through you heart; even if HE sends someone else to you, you would know if GOD is really speaking through that person. That is where the HOLY SPIRIT comes in, to give you the Spirit of Discernment, so that you can distinguish the spirit of man or devil from the Spirit of GOD. Is it not GOD that says that HE will no longer make laws to be just on plaques and books, but HE will write the law directly on your heart? (Jeremiah 31: 33).  It is very important to pray for the Spirit of Discernment in order to know when the HOLY SPIRIT commands you to do something or refrain from doing it, so that you can obey accordingly. It is no longer a valid excuse to say that you did not know GOD was speaking to you. Moreover, only the HOLY SPIRIT can help you to obey GOD timeously and in the right way GOD desires.  I, for instance, do not remember the last time a prophet came to give me an instruction from GOD. So, all the instances of disobedience I remember are those where I knew in my heart that GOD instructed me to do something or refrain from doing it, and I either disobeyed or did not obey promptly.

images 4.png

Finally, there is no obedience without promptness or immediateness. My mum always says that if she instructs a child to do something now, and it is only done two hours later, it already amounts to disobedience because the instruction was not obeyed immediately. I think GOD feels the same way as well. HE knows all things, and knows what is good for you. Thus, if HE tells you to take a certain step now, and you are delaying, you may never have the privilege of having that opportunity again. I know this from experience. Time waits for no man. So, ask yourself, ‘What is that thing or instruction or duty GOD has put in my heart, I am yet to do?’ Procrastination destroys destinies. Quickly do what GOD has told you to do, before it is too late! This is because obedience is much more satisfying than regrets.

Good day People of GOD.

Today we will be looking at 2 Peter 1: 6, where Peter admonishes us to add self-control to our knowledge, and persevere in exercising self-restraint when appropriate and to be Godly. These are the next set of traits necessary to build your spiritual life on earth.

and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness (NIV);

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness (KJV);

and in your knowledge, self-control, and in yourself-control, steadfastness, and in yoursteadfastness, godliness (AMP);

Previously, Peter admonished us to add virtue to our faith, and add knowledge to our virtue. And it has been established that the wisdom plays a major role in building your spiritual life.

However, Peter does not stop there. In verse 6, he says that your knowledge is not complete without self-control or temperance. So, it is not enough to have knowledge or wisdom; you must add self-control to the mix too.

At church, when we are taught about wisdom, our pastor defines wisdom as the ‘application of knowledge’. It is not enough to have that knowledge, but you must know how to apply it and actually apply it. If you don’t apply self-control to the knowledge you have, you could become very proud and incorrigible, and that will ultimately lead to your destruction. Knowledge without self-control or temperance could kill.

Take Solomon for instance. He is reputed to be the wisest man that crossed the face of the earth. Yet, his life ended as a mess, and the kingdom was wrested from his family. He was wise, but had 700 wives of royal birth and 300 concubines, who led him away from GOD (1 Kings 11: 3). The authors of the Bible would not have mentioned this if it is not true. A man that was glorified at some point in the life, fell from grace to grass- yet it was mentioned he was the wisest man (1 Kings 4: 29-34). The only other man who has walked the face of the earth, and had greater wisdom is Awesome JESUS CHRIST.

The point I am bringing out here is that knowledge or wisdom can be useless or even prove destructive without self-control or –restraint. Even JESUS exercised restraint in some situations where another person in HIS Shoes would have just gone along with the crowd. Take for instance when the Israelites wanted to make HIM king. HE had just fed 5000 men, apart from women and children- roughly 12 000 people in all. HE realised the Israelites wanted to come and make HIM king by force, and withdrew again to a mountain by HIMSELF.  Obviously, that must have looked attractive. One may think it may have furthered GOD’s Plan of Reconciliation with mankind along, without JESUS having to die. But, Awesome and Merciful JESUS knew that the Father’s Plan for HIM was different, and HE had to die so that mankind can be reconciled to GOD. So, HE exercised restraint, and refused the option of being made king at that time. Indeed, JESUS ran away from all ‘appearance of evil’ (1 Thessalonians 5: 22). Today, HE sits at the Right Hand of Awesome GOD the Father, and everything is perfect. If JESUS had allowed the people to make HIM king then, GOD’s Plan would have been destroyed. We all should learn from this.

Another time when Awesome JESUS exercised self-control was when HE was about to be arrested, and Peter in HIS defense, cut off the ear of the High Priest’s servant. JESUS immediately rebuked him and reminded him that HE had to die as GOD intended (John 18: 10-12). At another time, JESUS was being tortured, and of course, as GOD the Son, HE could call on HIS Father who would send at least 12 legions of Angels to come down and defend HIM, and kill all those people. Yet, HE restrained from doing so because HE knew it was not part of GOD’s Plan (Matthew 26: 53-54).

download.jpg                                    download (2).jpg

Finally, Peter says add to self-control, steadfastness. In other words, be persistent, committed, and dedicated towards exercising self-control and building your spiritual life. And while being steadfast in GOD, be Godly. Pray to the HOLY SPIRIT to empower you with the Fear of GOD (Isaiah 11: 2), and to help you as you endeavour and work hard at being Godly. It is not easy being Godly in the world we live in now, with so much corruption, violence, and tolerance of things that are contrary to the Word of GOD. Yet, by the HOLY SPIRIT, all things are possible (Mark 19: 26).

Good day People of GOD. Happy new week!

Today we will be looking at 1 Peter 2:5-6, which tells us that we are amongst other things, a holy priesthood meant to offer acceptable sacrifices unto GOD.

1 Peter 2:5-7New International Version (NIV)

you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For in Scripture it says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion,
a chosen and precious cornerstone,
and the one who trusts in him
will never be put to shame.”

Vs 5:

After redemption, you become a ‘living stone’, part of other ‘living stones’ used to build a ‘spiritual house’ which will become a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to GOD through CHRIST.

In John 10: 10, JESUS explains HIS Mission on earth as coming to give life and give it abundantly to HIS People: ‘The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (emphasis mine KJV)’. Thus, believing in JESUS and confessing HIM as your LORD and Saviour makes you to receive Life, that would transcend your sojourn on earth. It is this Life in you that makes you qualify to spend Eternity in Heaven. This is why in Galatians 2: 20, Paul says the following:

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (NIV).

Paul is saying here that as he has given his life to CHRIST, he is dead to the flesh, but has the Life of CHRIST in him. Moreover, in Paul tells the Romans in Romans 8: 10-  But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness (emphasis mine NIV). A better translation is that of the New Living Translation which says, ‘And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.’.

Therefore, one you are born again, you automatically receive the Grace to live a holy and righteous life according to GOD’s Standards. How? You receive the HOLY SPIRIT at the New Birth. HE is the Spirit that imparts the fear of GOD in you (Isaiah 11: 2), and thus, gives life because of righteousness.

Have you ever wondered why GOD even bothered to save mankind by introducing the New Covenant? The old one was pretty okay… Well, you do not need to go further than John 3: 16 ‘For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life’. This is one of the first Scriptures you got to know, right? Yes, GOD wanted to reconcile mankind to HIMSELF, and this is why HE sent JESUS to die for us, and help us become a Holy priesthood that will offer acceptable sacrifices to HIM. The reason why you and I are saved is so that we can serve GOD or offer acceptable sacrifices to HIM. HE figured the Old Covenant had too many ‘barriers’ to HIMSELF, and GOD wanted to include the Gentiles. Colossians 1: 19-20 says:

19For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him [JESUS], 20and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven (NIV).

In 2 Corinthians 5: 19-20, Paul appeals to the Corinthians to reconcile themselves to GOD:

19namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (NIV).

Finally, GOD has given you the privilege to be born again. Don’t throw it back in HIS Face or nail HIS Son back to the cross. You are destined to be a holy priesthood unto GOD, and offer acceptable sacrifices unto HIM. Endeavour to do this by HIS Grace, and see yourself become a living testimony! We will look at verse 6 tomorrow. Stay tuned for that! Enjoy your day 🙂

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved (KJV).

Welcome/Bienvenue/ Shalom/Ekabo

Good day People of GOD.

Today we shall be looking at the second part of Psalm 55: 22 which says, ‘HE shall never suffer the righteous to be moved’.

Who is the righteous? As a child, I have always wondered what being ‘righteous’ means. Everybody seems to have their definitions of ‘righteous’, including human right groups (lol ☺).

This word appears 307 times in the King Kames version of the Holy Bible. Thus, what does the Bible have to say about righteous people?

  1. Abraham asked GOD, ‘Wilt Thou indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked? (Genesis 18: 16-33)’. One can assume that the righteous refers to anyone who acts according to GOD’s Law and does not do things that are evil. The men in Sodom and Gomorrah were evil, engaged in homosexual activities, and did profane things. GOD wanted to destroy them and wipe evil from the earth (Genesis 18: 20-21; Genesis 19: 3-5; 12-13).
  2. Psalm 5: 12- ‘Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield (NIV).’ Pretty self-explanatory.
  3. Psalms 15:2- ‘He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.’ Thus, you can assume that when you walk uprightly or justly, and when you speak the truth, you are righteous.
  4. Psalms 45:7 ‘Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.’ GOD loves righteousness so it is no surprise that HE will not allow the righteous to be moved. There are too many old testament references to righteousness. Under the New Covenant of CHRIST, there are 104 instances where the word appears in the New Testament of the KJV version of the Bible.
  5. JESUS said, ‘Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. (Matthew 5: 6 KJV).’
  6. JESUS also said, ‘But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6: 33 KJV).’ Therefore, when you seek the things of the Kingdom of GOD, you are righteous.
  7. Acts 13:10: ‘And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?’. Thus, when you fear GOD, you are righteous.
  8. When you are born again and you are born of the Spirit, and you don’t engage in works of the flesh, you are eligible to see GOD’s Kingdom and are righteous (John 3: 1-8). But being ‘born-again’ does not mean just going to church, and going to church is not enough. You must be righteous in words, thoughts and deeds as Romans 1: 29 shows below.
  9. Romans 1:29: ‘Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them’.

Need I say more? When you do the things above? You are unrighteous. There is the Word of GOD: clear and simple. And when you don’t actually do these things, but you support those who do it, you have sinned and are also unrighteous. Moreover, when you know something is wrong, and you don’t say anything against it when it is in your power to do so, you have sinned and are unrighteous.

So far, I have tried to prove one point: righteousness means a lot to GOD. And there are great rewards for being righteous. One of which is that when you are righteous, GOD gives you stability. HE ensures you are not moved. This is echoed in Psalm 121: 3: ‘He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber’.

Pray to GOD to give you the Grace to be righteous in words, thoughts and deeds. Let the Righteousness of GOD fill your heat so that you can continue to experience HIS Awesome Blessings.

Giving Luke 6: 38

38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you (NIV).

When you give, it shall be given unto you. Who shall give unto you? First, Awesome JEHOVAH Himself. This is why when you lend to the poor, you lend to GOD. And GOD will surely pay you back (Proverbs 19: 17). Second, people will give back to you. This is pretty obvious. If you give to me now when I need help, I will gladly assist you or give to you when you need help. How will you receive the reward for your kindness? A good measure of help or assistance we would receive when we need help. And you will receive a measure of good things that are more than enough. Because the help you would receive when you have the habit of giving generously will overflow or run over. If you give sparingly, you receive sparingly (2 Corinthians 9: 6). If you give generously, you receive generously (Proverbs 11: 24-26).

Thus, it is the same measure you use in giving people, people will use in giving you. For example, if you think giving one cup of rice to an hungry family is good enough, you won’t receive enough when you need help. If you think however, giving a bag of rice with some oil and meat is good enough for this hungry family, you would receive more than enough when you need help.

Here is a very good exposé on Luke 6: 38 by Andrew Wommack Ministries. There are four important points I want to emphasise in the article.

  1. The law of sowing and reaping applies in the physical and spiritual worlds/realms.
  2. The law works on positive or negative things that we sow.
  3. Good things we sow can be wiped away if we do not persist in doing good. Galatians 6:9 says that we should continue doing good we would reap our good reward if we do not give up.
  4. If we are late in our giving we would be late in our supply. If we give grudgingly, people would give to us grudgingly. The converse is true. If you always quickly rise up to occasion when someone needs help, and you give cheerfully, the same gesture would be reciprocated to you. If you always give your tithes and offerings late, do not expect GOD to quickly jump to action when you are in trouble! GOD treats you as important as you treat HIM in your life.
  5. When we pray for Divine Provision, we should believe that Awesome JEHOVAH JIREH has answered our prayers. However, we should also pray for the helper or person GOD will use to deliver our answers.

Giving Proverbs 11: 24-26

24 One person gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.

25 A generous person will prosper;
whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

26 People curse the one who hoards grain,
but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell (NIV).

Vs 24: the person who gives liberally gains more. The one who withholds and does not give becomes poor.

This is very true. And is one of the ironies of life. When you give you gain more. Why? The rule is that you reap whatever you sow. Thus, if you sow kindness, you reap kindness. Even the law of Karma says that whatever goes around comes around. If you are kind today, someone else or the same person you helped will be kind to you tomorrow. The Bible even confirms this. GOD cannot be mocked. Whatever you sow, you reap (Galatians 6: 7). Also, if you give to the poor, you lend to GOD (Proverbs 19: 17). All the silver and gold that exist belongs to GOD (Haggai 2: 8). When HE pays you back, HE will certainly ‘overpay’ you.

If you are kind to me today or you give to me, I would feel obliged to something in return for you even though you do not require payment. You give to somebody, they are touched. They will also feel obliged to give you help too when you need it. You do that to three more people today. Say, you need help tomorrow. Five of us are willing to help you out and give freely to us. Because you have been a blessing to our lives. Then, instead of getting help from one person, you get from five different persons. You gain more at the end of the day. This is how life works.

Also, during Christmas or Easter, you buy gifts for your boss(es) and his family, your colleagues and so on, you will definitely gain favour in their eyes. At the end, you will gain more when the time is right. This is not a bribe. This is simply giving to let someone else keep you in their good graces. And when you need help or are considered for a promotion, everyone will vote in your favour.

At home, if we freely give our time, effort and love to immediate family members, you earn respect. Gain favour in their eyes. Thus, when you need help, they will gladly help you because they are happy to do so. Not because it is a point of duty.

In our relationships: marriage, sexual, parental, platonic, whatever: if you freely give, you freely receive. Period. No two ways about it. If you freely give your time and effort and love and care to the other person(s) in your relationships, you would reap the same. If you are ALWAYS sensitive to the needs of others, they will be sensitive to yours to. If you ALWAYS work towards making others happy and doing or saying what will make them feel better, they will reciprocate the same towards you. If you are in a relationship that is not working the way you wish it, go back to the drawing board, and decide to do and say and give EVERYTHING that will make the other person(s) happy or feel better. It may not be the devil at work. Maybe, you only need to spend more time with your spouse and/or children. Study their needs. Try to understand what makes them tick or what puts them off. Don’t just buy any kind of gifts to pacify them. Rather, GIVE THEM PERSONAL ATTENTION. Not just giving them the necessary basics! Give more of your time and love and care in understanding the needs of your loved ones, how to respond to them appropriately, and RESPOND APPROPRIATELY. If you want to buy gifts, buy those that will really touch their hearts. Not the ones you deem appropriate. Gifts may not even be necessary. Rather, give more of your time and love and care.

Then, see your loved ones reciprocate the same gesture to you. See your relationship(s) grow better. See your loved ones more comfortable around you. See your loved ones express themselves more.

The converse is true. Hoard your time, love, care and gifts. And reap frustrated and difficult relationships.

Vs 25: if you are generous, you will prosper. If you refresh others, you will be refreshed.

The word ‘generous’ according to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary (OALD) means giving freely. In other words, giving without limit. Not giving sparingly. Willing to give without limit. It also means giving more than is necessary. Giving lavishly. Giving in a large amount. Moreover, you are generous if you are kind in the way you treat people. If you are willing to discover the good in every person and in everything. In other words, being kind is being generous.

If you are kind/generous to others, you will prosper. Why? You will make a lot of friends in the process. Thus, when you have a need, there will be many people willing to help you out. You will be overwhelmed with love. If you are into business, you will have many more clients. Obviously, if you always give your customers the best deal, they will ALWAYS come back for more! If you are kind to bosses & colleagues at your workplace, you will have many allies when you are presenting a proposal or being considered for a promotion or whatever. Even your bosses and colleagues will always want to listen to whatever you have to say and value your input. Thus, you have to be generous to prosper in your business and career.

If you give more than is asked of you or do more than is necessary in your relationships with others, those relationships will prosper. Your marriage will become sweeter and better. Your children will respect and obey you more. Your siblings and cousins will listen to you more. Even elders in your family will always want to have your input. Your fiance(ée) will love and respect you more. The rewards are endless. Thus, going the extra mile for everyone around does not hurt. It is so beneficial! People appreciate you more and value your presence in their lives more, when you go the extra mile for them.

If you refresh others, you will be refreshed. You refresh someone when you give new strength or energy to someone. When you reinvigorate someone else (OALD). When you make someone feel better or energised or empowered to deal with a certain situation. Thus, when you relieve someone in pain or distress by giving your time, love or care generously, you refresh them. Sometimes, you do not need to spend money. Just giving your time, love and care generously to that person can make a positive difference in their lives. If someone is lonely or depressed, encouraging them with Scriptures to cheer them up, and spending more time with them, can bring them out of depression. And so on. Every day, let us look for whose life to make a positive difference in. AND LET’S DO IT. May the HOLY SPIRIT empower us in JESUS’ Name.

Vs 27: if you seek good for the sake of others, you find Divine Favour. If you seek evil, you will find evil coming down on your head.

If you work towards relieving others in distress or making them feel better you will receive Divine Favour. Why? First, the second greatest commandment in the Word is: Love your neighbour as much as you love yourself (Mark 12: 31). For GOD so loved the world that HE gave HIS Only Begotten Son…(John 3: 16). When you give to the poor, you lend to GOD (Proverbs 19:17). If a man claims to love GOD and hates his brother, he is a liar (1 John 4: 20-21). If we obey and serve the LORD, we will spend the rest of our lives in prosperity; the rest of our years in contentment (Job 36: 11).  It takes Divine Favour to be contented and happy in life. It takes Divine Strength to live long (Psalm 90: 10). Thus, if we obey GOD in working for the good of others, all the blessings attached to obedience in the Bible are ours! Remember Exodus 23: 25-27:

25 Worship the Lord your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you, 26 and none will miscarry or be barren in your land. I will give you a full life span. 27 “I will send my terror ahead of you and throw into confusion every nation you encounter. I will make all your enemies turn their backs and run (NIV).

Second, when you always work towards the good of others, everyone loves and respects you. If you need only one thing, everyone will be offering you the same thing and you will end up having more than enough! If you call for only one help, everyone will be rushing to help you! This is a result of Divine Favour!

Of course, the converse is true. If you are selfish and conceited, and you never want others to succeed, people will only hate you. And when you need help, you won’t get any! If you get any help, it will be because they are doing out of a sense of duty to GOD or some principle. It won’t be a gesture from their hearts. If you always make evil come to people, evil will only ever be your portion. GOD cannot be mocked. Whatever you sow, you reap (Galatians 6: 7). If you sow evil, you reap evil (Proverbs 22:8).

We have looked at giving and sowing & reaping. The golden rule remains the same: Do unto others as you want them to do unto you. If you want help when you need it, give it to others when they need it. If you want people to always go the extra mile for you, go the extra mile for them first!  Then, they will reciprocate the same gesture to you.

Prayer: Thank you LORD for the study of YOUR Word.  LORD, help me to become addicted to giving in all areas of my life. Help me LORD to be able to give to the poor and the needy. Help me to give more of my time, care, love and gifts in all my relationships: with my spouse/ children/ colleagues/ clients, etc. LORD, find somebody for me in whose life I can make a positive difference, today and everyday from now on, and empower me to make a positive impact in their lives. Amen.

GOD bless you all ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Living Sacrifices Romans 12: 1-2

1 I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. Amplified Bible

Vs 1: GOD has had Mercy on us. In fact, we are alive because of GOD’s Awesome Mercy. Thus, Paul admonishes us to offer our bodies to GOD as Living Sacrifices. Holy and Pleasing to Awesome JEHOVAH GOD. This is in fact, our spiritual act of worship, our true and proper worship (NIV).

Hurray! Paul shows us how to worship GOD. We do not have to consult the Oxford English Dictionary again!

How do we offer our bodies as Living Sacrifices? According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the verb ‘sacrifice’ signifies giving up something valuable or important. To achieve a goal you deem more important or get a result you deem more important or to give this thing to someone you deem more important than having that thing. Thus, we should devote or dedicate all our members and faculties to serving and pleasing Awesome GOD. This we do by protecting our members and faculties from desecration by sin and worldly desires.

Thus, being a living sacrifice signifies giving up worldly pleasures to please GOD and make HIM proud. Like Paul said, certain things are good. Yet, only some of these things are beneficial (:). This is something we should always keep in mind. To be a Living Sacrifice, we have to fear GOD. This is something we cannot do on our own. It goes beyond thinking that the moment you slip, you are set for hell fire. The fear of the LORD is a lifestyle, a journey, a process. This can only come by the Empowerment of the HOLY GHOST (Isaiah 11: 3).

Vs 2: Paul admonishes us not to conform to the trend and fashion, amongst other things of this age/generation. The things of this world are fashioned after and adapted to the superficial customs of this world. Rather than conform, we should be transformed by the entire renewal of our minds. When our minds are renewed by GOD’s WORD, we get new ideals and a new attitude. This helps us decide what the perfect Will of GOD is. Not HIS Permissible Will. But, what GOD thinks is good for us.

We should not conform to the things of this world. This means our personal values should not be decided by the things deemed OK by the world. Only by the things deemed OK by GOD’s WORD. Also, some things are not expressly prohibited in the Bible. Yet, to do them is wrong. How do we know it’s wrong? The SPIRIT of GOD tells us. GOD has resorted to writing HIS Law on the tablets of our hearts (Jer. 31:33). So, we have no excuse for disobedience. The fact that something is right in the eyes of others, does not mean it is actually right.

Thus, we need to eat and digest the WORD. This way, we can have our minds completely renewed in CHRIST. As a man thinketh in his heart so is he (Prov. 23: 7). If our minds are completely renewed by GOD’s WORD, it is easier to say no to sin and ALL kinds of temptation. It is easier to live a pure and righteous life according to Awesome GOD’s Standards. It is also easier to know GOD’s Perfect Will for our lives. Thus, when we are at that crossroad, and we do not know what road to take or what decision to make, we should simply ask the HOLY SPIRIT for direction. HE is our Lamp who turns our darkness into light (2 Sam. 22: 29). How do we ensure the continued Presence of the Awesome HOLY SPIRIT of GOD? By ALWAYS studying and meditating on the WORD. The WORD is Spirit and Life, says JESUS CHRIST in John 6: 63. Thus, we need to have the WORD continually in our words, thoughts and deeds to ensure the continued Presence of the HOLY SPIRIT. This way we will always live holy, pure and righteous lives according to Awesome JEHOVAH’s Standards. And, we will always be sure of the Perfect Will of Awesome JEHOVAH GOD for our lives on earth.

May the LORD bless the study of HIS Word. Amen.

GOD bless you :):):)
