Good day People of GOD 🙂

Today we will be looking at Proverbs 23: 18, where we are assured that our expectation or desperation is the key to seeing the end of every challenge in our lives.

For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off (KJV).

There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off (NIV).

Surely there is a future [and a reward], and your hope and expectation will not be cut off (AMP).

There is an expiry date for every challenge of life. There is a solution for every problem. Some people may think this is an over-optimistic view of life, but it is true, fortunately. ‘For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off (KJV).’ This Scripture can mean many things. Like there is an end to that problem in your life, so your expectation would not be cut off. Or there is a future gain or hope for you, and your expectation will not be cut off. Yet, it serves as authority for the fact that there is an end to very problem.

One of the advantages of being born again is that you have access to the ‘Redemption Package’. This refers to the great things GOD ordained for HIS People through CHRIST, and which you can receive by faith. For example, JESUS became poor so that you can be rich in all things, not just money (2 Corinthians 8: 9). So, you must reject poverty and claim riches in CHRIST. Moreover, on the cross just before our Lord JESUS gave up the ghost, he said, ‘It is finished (John 19: 30)’. What was finished?  Not just the crucifixion, but every problem, battle, illnesses and diseases mankind had always faced since the Fall of man. JESUS came so that we can be restored to our original glory as GOD initially planned. This is why Isaiah prophesies of JESUS,

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53: 4-5 KJV).

What does it take to see an end to every affliction or problem in your life? Holy desperation. Holy anger is the mystery behind divine victory. You only claim you victory both in the spiritual and physical realms by force. Awesome JESUS alludes to this concept when HE says, ‘And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force (Matthew 11: 12). An object remains at rest until an external force is applied to it. Therefore, there are some things in life, some heights in life, some goals in life YOU ONLY GET BY FORCE. Until you apply the Force of GOD to your life, it will remain stagnant and in equilibrium.

There is a popular Yoruba saying, ‘Orire ko fe kon se oun (Success does not want you to have it)’. therefore, if you are not ready to apply the requisite force to certain issues in your life, you will not fulfill your destiny, and achieve great things in life. Another Yoruba saying goes, ‘Ogun l’aye (life is war)’. You may think, ‘But, I don’t really have any enemies’. However, just because you have confessed JESUS as your Lord and Saviour, you are a threat to the devil’s kingdom on earth, and you are his enemy. It is trite that life is not a bed of roses. So, you need to fight, and continually be spiritually vigilant, in order to get to where GOD has ordained you to be on earth. When you finally get to the top, you must keep fighting and be spiritually vigilant to remain at the top. Therefore, the war does not end for as long as you are on earth. May GOD give you victory in whatever battle you are facing now in JESUS’ Name!

Proverbs 3: 18 says, ‘For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off (KJV).’ Your expectation or desperation is what determines the end of that challenge or siege the devil ahs ordained concerning your life. When you expect something, you are certain that you will receive that thing at a certain time. But, when you are desperate, you are determined that something must happen or not happen, by fire and by force! There is that stage you get to in life, and you have to be desperate, or else, you would not achieve anything. Take Blind Bartimaeus for example. The man was blind and poor because he was sitting by the road begging for alms. Then, he hears JESUS and HIS Disciples passing by, and with a loud voice, he shouts, ‘JESUS, Son of David, have mercy on me!’. The disciples of JESUS tell him to shut up, and yet he keeps shouting until he gets the attention of Awesome JESUS, and HE calls him over (verse 49:). And when JESUS stops and asks HIM what he wants, he tells JESUS he wants to be healed, and he receives his sight on the spot (verse 52)! The truth is that if Bartimeus was not determined at that time to be healed, he may have died blind. That day JESUS was passing by was the last time HE passed that place before HE was crucified! If Bartimaeus had just kept quiet like others told him to, he would have died a blind poor fellow, and his destiny would have been wasted forever. Besides, this story illustrates that the end of a challenge or battle is determined by your desperation. GOD has already perfected and finished everything concerning your life at the cross (John 19: 30), so, you just have to reach out and grab what GOD has in store for you!

Apostle Peter says that your light afflictions are just for a moment, and achieves for a greater eternal glory that outshines these problems (2 Corinthians 4: 17). This means that every challenge in your life should last just for a season. It should not last long at all.  Therefore, it is important to confront that challenge with the Word of GOD and other mysteries available in the Bible, early enough, so that you can be victorious while it matters. Imagine that Blind Bartimaues in the story above missed that amazing opportunity to be healed by JESUS, and only got pushed into the healing waters of Bethesda, and got healed when he was 75 years old – would the victory over blindness be as sweet being healed while much younger? What can a man of 75 who is just seeing with his eyes for the first time achieve? His youth has been wasted, and his body and mind may have aged. So, it is important to get desperate on time, and be proactive in attacking that challenge, so that you can receive your victory while it matters.

What Forces should you apply to your life to move it forward?

  • The Name of JESUS: the Bible says that the Name of the LORD is a strong Tower, the righteous runs into it and are safe (Proverbs 18: 10). Moreover, at the mention of the Name of JESUS, every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that JESUS is LORD (Philippians 2: 10-11).
  • The Word of GOD: Paul says,

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (KJV).

  • The Blood of JESUS: This is always the last card or resort. The Blood is very powerful. Remember the Passover night when the Israelites left Egypt? GOD had instructed them to kill lambs, sprinkle the blood on their doors, so that when GOD’s Angel of Death was passing by, It avoided the households of Israel (Exodus 12: 6-7; 12-13). This Angel struck down first-born of every household in Egypt, except the households of Israel where the blood of lambs was shed and used to anoint the doors. This ‘blood of Sprinkling’ was the last method that finally got pharaoh to agree to let GOD’s people go (verses 31-36). And this mystery still works today.

What does it take to get Biblical mysteries to work in your favour? First, you must know who you are in CHRIST. You must understand your position in CHRIST. If you don’t, you will continually be a victim. Secondly, you must search GOD’s Word to find the Mysteries (like the Blood of JESUS) and Promises that GOD has made available to fight every battle. When dealing with the devil, you cannot afford to be complacent or to show mercy. Thirdly, get desperate, and be determined that the siege is over! Fight the battle before it destroys you!

Finally, if you don’t confront that challenge, you cannot conquer it! if you don’t address that problem, it will redress you. JESUS says in John 10: 10, ‘The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (NIV).’

Therefore, there is no reason for the devil to triumph over you. Why? JESUS says in Luke 10: 18-19,

18So He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19See, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you (NIV).

May the LORD bless the study of HIS Awesome Word in JESUS’ Name!

Good day People of GOD.

Today we will be looking at 2 Peter 1: 6, where Peter admonishes us to add self-control to our knowledge, and persevere in exercising self-restraint when appropriate and to be Godly. These are the next set of traits necessary to build your spiritual life on earth.

and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness (NIV);

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness (KJV);

and in your knowledge, self-control, and in yourself-control, steadfastness, and in yoursteadfastness, godliness (AMP);

Previously, Peter admonished us to add virtue to our faith, and add knowledge to our virtue. And it has been established that the wisdom plays a major role in building your spiritual life.

However, Peter does not stop there. In verse 6, he says that your knowledge is not complete without self-control or temperance. So, it is not enough to have knowledge or wisdom; you must add self-control to the mix too.

At church, when we are taught about wisdom, our pastor defines wisdom as the ‘application of knowledge’. It is not enough to have that knowledge, but you must know how to apply it and actually apply it. If you don’t apply self-control to the knowledge you have, you could become very proud and incorrigible, and that will ultimately lead to your destruction. Knowledge without self-control or temperance could kill.

Take Solomon for instance. He is reputed to be the wisest man that crossed the face of the earth. Yet, his life ended as a mess, and the kingdom was wrested from his family. He was wise, but had 700 wives of royal birth and 300 concubines, who led him away from GOD (1 Kings 11: 3). The authors of the Bible would not have mentioned this if it is not true. A man that was glorified at some point in the life, fell from grace to grass- yet it was mentioned he was the wisest man (1 Kings 4: 29-34). The only other man who has walked the face of the earth, and had greater wisdom is Awesome JESUS CHRIST.

The point I am bringing out here is that knowledge or wisdom can be useless or even prove destructive without self-control or –restraint. Even JESUS exercised restraint in some situations where another person in HIS Shoes would have just gone along with the crowd. Take for instance when the Israelites wanted to make HIM king. HE had just fed 5000 men, apart from women and children- roughly 12 000 people in all. HE realised the Israelites wanted to come and make HIM king by force, and withdrew again to a mountain by HIMSELF.  Obviously, that must have looked attractive. One may think it may have furthered GOD’s Plan of Reconciliation with mankind along, without JESUS having to die. But, Awesome and Merciful JESUS knew that the Father’s Plan for HIM was different, and HE had to die so that mankind can be reconciled to GOD. So, HE exercised restraint, and refused the option of being made king at that time. Indeed, JESUS ran away from all ‘appearance of evil’ (1 Thessalonians 5: 22). Today, HE sits at the Right Hand of Awesome GOD the Father, and everything is perfect. If JESUS had allowed the people to make HIM king then, GOD’s Plan would have been destroyed. We all should learn from this.

Another time when Awesome JESUS exercised self-control was when HE was about to be arrested, and Peter in HIS defense, cut off the ear of the High Priest’s servant. JESUS immediately rebuked him and reminded him that HE had to die as GOD intended (John 18: 10-12). At another time, JESUS was being tortured, and of course, as GOD the Son, HE could call on HIS Father who would send at least 12 legions of Angels to come down and defend HIM, and kill all those people. Yet, HE restrained from doing so because HE knew it was not part of GOD’s Plan (Matthew 26: 53-54).

Finally, Peter says add to self-control, steadfastness. In other words, be persistent, committed, and dedicated towards exercising self-control and building your spiritual life. And while being steadfast in GOD, be Godly. Pray to the HOLY SPIRIT to empower you with the Fear of GOD (Isaiah 11: 2), and to help you as you endeavour and work hard at being Godly. It is not easy being Godly in the world we live in now, with so much corruption, violence, and tolerance of things that are contrary to the Word of GOD. Yet, by the HOLY SPIRIT, all things are possible (Mark 19: 26).

Good day People of GOD. Happy Sunday everyone 🙂 May this week be productive for you in JESUS’ Name!

Today we will be looking at Isaiah 59: 1-2, which shows that GOD hears your prayers.

‘Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear (Isaiah 59: 1-2 KJV).’

Vs 1:

‘This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. (1 John 5: 14 NIV)’. If there is any doubt in your heart regarding whether GOD hears when you pray, I expect such doubt to have died a natural death. Why? GOD hears when you pray! This fact is also echoed in Revelation 5: 8-

‘And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.’

Your prayers go up to GOD in Golden Bowls full on incense. They go up to HIM as a sweet smelling savour! Isaiah 65: 24 also says that, ‘Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.’ GOD says HE hears you before you ask. Thus, GOD indeed hears your prayers! GOD can answer you; HIS Hand is not too short to save! GOD IS ALL YOU NEED. HE created the ear; HE is not deaf! Yet, why do you doubt this? Why do you sometimes think GOD does not or has not heard your prayers?

  • The psalmist says, ‘If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me (Psalm 66: 18).’ Yes, there are some people GOD does not listen to. There are some people GOD does not give audience. There are some people that do not have access to the Throne of CHRIST. Why? Because of sin. There, you have it!
  • Moreover, if you look closely at the Scriptures mentioned above, there is a qualification regarding GOD hearing prayers. Revelation 5: 8 says that the prayers in the form of incense which the Holy Creatures have in their bowls, are the prayers of GOD’s people. When you study the book of Isaiah 65 referred to above, you will see that the people GOD referred to in verse 24, and whose prayers HE hears before they even ask, are the people who will qualify to be in the New Heaven and the New Earth (Isaiah 65: 17-25).

download (3).jpg

Vs 2:

‘But your iniquities have separated between you and your God…’

Sin separates you from GOD. Sin is what separated man from GOD at the Fall. This is why Adam was kicked out of the Garden (Genesis 3). Moreover, before CHRIST, there was a Holy Curtain in the Temple of GOD that nobody was allowed behind. Only the High Priest once a year could go there, and after he had shed blood for his sins and those of the people (Hebrews 9: 7-8). This veil separated the Holy of Holies from the Holy Place. That was a veil separating GOD from man because of sin. This was not GOD’s Plan in the Beginning (Genesis 2: 15; Genesis 3: 8). At the cross, when JESUS said, ‘It is Finished’, the veil/curtain tore in two (Matthew 27: 51; Luke 23: 45).

Now that you have CHRIST, you have access to GOD’s Throne because JESUS’S Death has purified you and made you a new person. But, if you willingly sin against GOD, do not expect HIM to entertain you or your requests.

Therefore, GOD hears only the prayers of HIS Saints. Proverbs 15: 29 says it well: ‘The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous (NIV).’ It does not get clearer than this. GOD is Holy (Psalm 99: 9), and the earth should tremble before HIM (Psalm 99: 1). GOD cannot abide sin, and HE would not hear the prayer of a sinner or an unrighteous. I’m not trying to sound like those pastors that condemn people to hell. These are facts taken directly from the Bible. More importantly, who is a sinner? A sinner is not just a prostitute, a murderer or whatever. A ‘sinner’ is a person who behaves or does something that is contrary to the Word of GOD, the Bible. A ‘sinner’ is also someone who is not born again. You are righteous when you believe and confess JESUS is LORD (Romans 10: 9), and obey HIS Word (John 14: 15). This is why it is good to ask for forgiveness of sins (we’ve all have sinned and come short of GOD’s Glory- Romans 3: 23), and ask for the HOLY SPIRIT to purify wipe away your sins with the Precious Blood of JESUS, before you pray.

Finally, GOD always hears your prayers. Don’t ever think HE doesn’t. HE is a Loving and Caring Father who will never forsake you, when you trust and seek HIM in faith (Psalm 9: 10)! Moreover, don’t think because GOD did not answer, it means HE did not hear you! If you ask and don’t receive, it is because of either of these reasons:

  1. You ask based on the wrong motives. You want that thing so that you can boast, have pleasure or something similar. You ask amiss (James 4: 3).
  2. You ask for the wrong thing. What you are asking for is not GOD’s Will (1 Samuel 16: 6-12).
  3. It is not GOD’s Appointed Time (Psalm 102: 13).

Good day People of GOD.

Today we will be looking at Isaiah 41: 21 , which shows that you can reason with GOD by reminding HIM of HIS Word, and holding HIM to HIS Promises.

‘Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.’

What is GOD saying here? HE is saying that you should tell HIM why HE has to do something in your life. There is no doubt that GOD knows what we want before we ask (Matthew 6: 8). And before we call, HE has already answered; while we are still speaking, HE has already heard (Isaiah 65: 24). But GOD honours HIS Word above HIS Awesome Name (Psalm 138: 2). Thus, when you pray using the Word of GOD, it’s like backing GOD into a corner; or putting HIM in a strait jacket. You actually put HIS Integrity on the line.

Moreover, GOD says, ‘Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool’ (Isaiah 1: 8).

When GOD says yes, nobody can say no. but, GOD can change HIS Mind. Let’s take the story of Hezekiah’s illness in 2 Kings 20. Hezekiah was ill and at the point of death. GOD told Isaiah to go and tell him that he was going to die and won’t recover. Instead of Hezekiah moaning and preparing for his prophesied death, he turned to the wall immediately and prayed to GOD. He told GOD to remember how faithful he had been, and the good things he had done in the past. He even wept as he prayed (verses 1-3). Before Isaiah had left, GOD spoke to him again and told him to tell Hezekiah that HE will heal him and add 15 years to his life. Wow!! From being told he will die to being told he will live 15 more years! And GOD said HE will defend the city for HIS Sake and the sake of HIS Servant David (verses 4-6). What did Hezekiah do here? HE put before Awesome GOD why he should live longer. He didn’t grumble or whine. He was not rude. He simply forth the credible reasons why he should live longer. And our GOD is a Faithful and Reasonable GOD. Probably, GOD was only testing him to see how he reacted. And see how he got 15 years extra to live!

Accordingly, whenever there are challenges, it is not the end of the world. There is always hope. Rather than grumble and whine, and make GOD unhappy, remind HIM of HIS Awesome Word; what HE has promised, and see HIM perform HIS Word in your life. GOD honours HIS Word above HIS Holy Name- the Name of JESUS. It is not enough to just pray using the Name of JESUS; you must pray using the Word of GOD, and reminding HIM of HIS Promises.

And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?

Luke 18:1-8 New King James Version (NKJV)

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

18 Then He spoke a parable to them that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’”

Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?

Vs 1: the purpose of telling this great parable was to teach us to pray without ceasing; to pray without giving up; to pray persistently. Paul echoed this in 1 Thessalonians 5: 17.

Vs 2-6: the widow had been asking for the judge’s help. But he wasn’t willing to help- he didn’t fear GOD or give two hoots. However, because the woman was so persistent, and he feared for his peace of mind, he decided to help her. Now, this was a man who didn’t fear GOD.

Vs 7: if the unjust judge could think like that, what about GOD in who there is no unrighteousness at all (Ps 92: 15)? Wouldn’t GOD avenge HIS OWN Elect who cry out to HIM day and night even though HE bear long with them? There are a couple of things to note here:

♥ The first time you pray GOD answers. HE hears. In fact, before you call HE  answers and while you are still speaking, HE hears you (Is. 65: 24). Moreover, HE knows what you need HIM even before you ask (Matthew 6: 8).

♥ If GOD does not immediately answer your prayers or HE does not answer as expected, there is a good reason for it. There is no unrighteousness in HIM and HE honours HIS Word above HIS Awesome Name (Ps 138: 2).

♥ GOD admires tenacity, determination and persistence in people. HE expects you to keep praying, day and night, until HE answers you. If you truly believe HE is capable of doing what you ask of HIM, HE expects you not to give up on praying day and night until HE answers- which is usually at the appointed time. Psalm 102: 13 says-

You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favour to her; the appointed time has come (my emphasis).

♥ GOD can decide to bear long with you so that you can learn to be persistent and determined in waiting upon HIM, especially when you are already used to getting things easy. HE wants to toughen you up; discipline you. Why? ‘…because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son (my emphasis). (Hebrew 12: 6).’

♥ GOD would be disappointed if you do not persist in waiting upon HIM in prayers, day and night, until HE answers. It’s like you don’t pass the ‘test’.

Vs 8: Now, if you are persistent in praying to GOD day and night so that HE can answer specific prayer points, HE will answer you speedily. But the question is: do you have the faith to be persistent in prayers day and night? Note the following:

♥ Like I said above, if GOD ‘bears long’ with you, it is for a good reason. HE probably wants you to learn to be persistent in prayers or it is not the appointed time yet. However, once the appointed time is here (Ps. 102: 13), GOD answers you speedily.

♥ It is not possible to be persistent in prayers day and night if you don’t have faith. Faith is what drives your persistence; your determination. If you don’t have it, you won’t have the strength to keep praying day and night, and you would just give up. Moreover, if you lack faith, you cannot please GOD, so your prayers would not reach Heaven anyway.

♥ We live in a world where people are spiritually lazy and love shortcuts. JESUS saw this and was unhappy. This is why HE wondered, ‘when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?’

Thank GOD for the study of HIS Awesome Word!
